Mr. Michael Casias
Chief of Ways and Means
I have built things for the last 8 years from houses, apartments, and innovative buildings to subdivisions and more than a few neighborhood and business partnerships. Starting with degrees in psychology, engineering, business administration and law, I cut my teeth at a typical law firm. After leaving and starting my own practice, I actively began participating in nonprofit housing and community development while serving on various Austin planning, zoning and bond oversight boards. Ultimately, what drives me is not the deal or the structures themselves. Rather what is key is who will live and work in what I am building at the end of the day and how they will interact with and bring sustainable benefits to their neighbors. I have launched Creative Land Strategies to leverage my legal, development, and regulatory experience to help others make Austin more sustainable. I also have a few inventions and retail concepts I'd like to pursue.
