Social Enterprise Case Studies


A panel of leaders of some of Austin’s most successful social enterprises will talk about how they got started, challenges they’ve seen, how they addressed them and where their social enterprise is today. There will be plenty of time for audience questions, so come learn from these seasoned social entrepreneurs who have made the connection between money and impact successful. The social enterprises range from startup to established, nonprofit to for profit. Panelist include Mason Arnold from Greenling, Melvin White from Digital Workforce Academy, Karen LaShelle from Theatre Action Project, and Rachel Fagan from Green Mountain Energy.

Nell Edgington is President of Social Velocity ( a consulting firm that accelerates social innovation by leading nonprofits to greater social impact and sustainability. Prior to launching Social Velocity, Nell led teams and strategic planning efforts, raised over $5 million annually, recruited and trained top talent and won national awards in nonprofit organizations in Oregon, Texas and Washington, DC, including PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) headquarters. She holds an MBA from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University.
