Alissa created milk + honey spa after completing the MBA program at UT in 2004 with a focus on Entrepreneurship. The original milk + honey, located in Austin's downtown 2nd Street District, has been a huge success since it opened its doors in January 2006. The second location, located in the Hill Country Galleria in Bee Cave opened in March 2008. Alissa and her talented team launched SALON by milk + honey also located in the 2nd Street District in July 2008. Alissa intends to continue growing the milk + honey brand, bringing the concept to a national market. She is most proud of the amazing team of 95 plus enthusiastic and supportive therapists, managers, spa coordinators, and support staff which rally behind her, making milk + honey such an amazing and unique place to both work and patronize. milk + honey has been recognized as one of the "Best Places to Work" and was one of the "Fast 50" by Austin Business Journal, and as won countless accolades for their great spa and salon treats and exceptional customer service. Prior to moving to Austin, Alissa worked for The Princeton Review for 8 years. She started as an Instructor while attending George Washington University where she studied English and Philosophy. Her last role at the company was as Executive Director of Operations in New York, before moving to San Francisco to start a private admissions counseling business. Alissa and her husband Shon (a busy software executive at Enspire Learning) work way too much, but enjoy running around Town Lake and Shoal Creek with their dog, cooking, and practicing yoga to help keep them sane.
