Hiring your first employee can be an exhilarating and frustrating experience. Business is booming and if you are an entrepreneur on your own, its time to double in size. Hiring the right person is much more than posting a job description on craigslist, interviewing candidates, negotiating a pay rate and providing a desk, a computer, a phone and (possibly) benefits.

While those are all important tasks to complete, understanding your regulatory requirements as an employer is crucial to the success of your business. We will be discussing steps for new employers to follow to ensure compliance with key federal and state regulations as well as how to reduce liability concerns and employee turnover.

Caroline possesses expertise in recruitment and retention, workforce planning, employee relations, organizational development, compensation and benefits, compliance and liability, management and staff training and HRIS and ATS assessments. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin and is a member of the Austin Human Resource Management Association and the Society of Human Resources Management. She received her PHR certification in 2001 and her SPHR in 2010. Caroline is currently serving on the Executive Board of the Grace Foundation of Texas and has been active with Planet Cancer, Meals on Wheels, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Busby Foundation, St Mary Cathedral Restoration Committee, Entrepreneurs Foundation of Central Texas and SAG Foundation.
