2009 Session:

Session Description – Finance Challenge - An Entrepreneurial Business Experience

Bjorn Billhardt, Enspire Learning Founder and CEO, will be leading a group of entrepreneurs through a simulation based learning experience. This hands-on experience will help learners connect operational metrics to financial statements. In addition, Bjorn will lead the group in targeted debriefing sessions that will touch on the entrepreneurial experience, his experiences bootstrapping Enspire, and how to create world-class products without venture capital.
Finance Challenge™ is a multiplayer simulation created by Enspire Learning where participants take charge of a virtual business and compete for market leadership. Each turn of play in the simulation corresponds to a business quarter. Working individually or in teams, participants must make quarterly decisions about sales/marketing, operations, research, and finance. The consequences of these decisions are reflected in competitive, real-world financial metrics. By actively practicing managerial leadership, participants will grasp the relationship between everyday decisions and a company's financial goals and performance. In the context of the simulation, reading financial statements and understanding what drives shareholder value are more than an academic exercise – they're the only way to come out on top.

NOTE: The Finance Challenge typically takes 2.5 hours to complete. Please plan accordingly.
