Sylvia Acevedo is the Founder, President and
CEO of CommuniCard which provides strategies and tools for the new American workforce. Her background as a rocket
scientist turned CEO and an engineering alumna of
Stanford University provided the fertile ground for her
pioneering work after serving as an executive for several
Fortune 100 companies, such as IBM, DELL and Apple.

Her understanding that strategy and communication entails
much more than just language, is now reshaping academic and health communities. Acevedo, a thought leader for today’s demographic shifts, with an ability to
see blind spots in market opportunities, has spearheaded programs that serve
community police departments, school districts, and hospital systems across
the nation.

Acevedo's ingenuity and ideas, often brilliant in their simplicity, haven't
gone unnoticed. She has been the recipient of many awards including, being named the 2007 Austin Business Journal Profiles in Power Award winner, 2007 Greater Austin Chamber Advocate Award winner, the 2007 Hispanic Community Leader for AISD, 2006 YWCA Austin’s Businesswoman of the Year, 2006 GEM National Entrepreneur of the Year, and 2004 U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Businesswoman of the Year.

Wanting the best and the brightest to carry out her own unique vision, Ann
Richards also tapped her to join the Executive Board of the Ann Richards School
for Young Women Leaders. Acevedo serves on numerous community and
non-profit boards in the greater Austin area, including a role as Chairwoman of the E3 Alliance, Vice President of the Austin Community Foundation, and Board of Advisor for Leadership Austin. Her work also includes advisory commissions with United Way, AISD, University of Texas, and others.

Acevedo is also a Professional Speaker for corporations, focusing on topics such as Innovation, Leadership and Strategies for success in the Global economy
